Berkeley Phase 2 Unit Limit? ›

In Phase 1, you can enroll in up to 13.5 units. During Phase 2, you can enroll in up to 17.5 units.

For a Fall or Spring semester, you may take: a minimum of 13 units. a maximum of 20.5 units.

If you will finish your final semester at or under the unit ceiling, you can be extended to the next Fall or Spring semester. For students declared in a single major, the unit ceiling is 130 units. For students declared in a double major or more, the unit ceiling is 136 units.

Customarily students enroll in 13-17 units per semester. You may request to take fewer than 13 units per semester only if you have certifiable health-related challenges or are enrolled in the Disabled Students Program.

Programs of less than 12 units or more than 20.5 units require approval. Requests to enroll in more than 20.5 units will not be reviewed until the second week of the semester.

Continuing students

In Phase 1, you can enroll in up to 13.5 units. During Phase 2, you can enroll in up to 17.5 units.

Students declared in two majors or simultaneous degrees must finish all degree requirements within 9 semesters (counting enrollments in all institutions attended) or by the end of the semester in which they exceed 136 units.

Continuing undergraduates are limited to no more than 13.5 units during Phase 1 and 17.5 units during Phase 2. Continuing graduates are limited to no more than 12 units during Phase 1 and 20.5 units for Phase 2. These limits include waitlisted units.

UC Berkeley has a very detailed, extensive list of required high school coursework for all applicants. They also have specific and well-outlined high school coursework requirements. High school students must have taken 15 high school courses that lasted a full academic year and received a minimum of a C grade.

Unit Requirements

You are required to earn: 120 total semester units. This includes transfer credit admitted to the Berkeley record and advanced high school units admitted to your college record.

Civil, Industrial, and Environmental engineering are usually the easiest engineering majors to matriculate into.

CAPPED MAJORS

These majors include, but are not limited to, Art, Business Administration, Cognitive Science, L&S Computer Science, Economics, Media Studies, Psychology, L&S Public Health, and Statistics.

Tuition and Fees. The I School's online students are assessed program tuition fees, which are charged per enrolled unit of coursework, and the Berkeley campus fee, which is charged per enrolled semester.

Limits on transfer credits

UC will only accept 70 semester (105 quarter) units of credit for lower-division coursework completed at any non-UC schools.

Undergraduate Students

During Pass One, students can register and waitlist for up to 17 units. During Pass Two, students can register and waitlist for up to 19 units. During Schedule Adjustment, students can register and waitlist for up to 28.5 units.

Both Undergraduate and Graduate students need to carry a study load of at least 12 units each quarter in order to be certified as full-time students.
