You can activate your Walmart Credit Card either online or over the phone, by calling the number on the back of the card. Calling is probably the better option if you’re in a hurry because activating your card online requires creating an account first. But both methods aren’t too hard to do and don’t take all that much time. The same methods apply to the Walmart® Store Card, too.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to activate your card immediately, but your account will be cancelled after 3-5 months if you wait too long.
Here’s how to activate your Walmart Credit Card by phone:
- Call the customer service number on the back of your card.
- Say or enter your card number and you will be connected to a live representative.
- Tell the representative your name, phone number and Social Security number.
After the Walmart representative verifies your identity, they will be able to activate your account, and you’ll be able to use your card immediately.
Here’s how to activate your Walmart Credit Card online:
- Visit the Walmart Credit Card activation page.
- Click on the “Sign In & Activate” button and log in to your account, using your credentials. If you don’t already have an online account, click on “Enroll & Activate.”
- Enter the 3-digit security code on the back of your Walmart Credit Card to activate it.
Whether you activate your Walmart Credit Card online or by phone, make sure to set up an online account (if you haven’t already). It will make paying the bill, reviewing recent transactions and otherwise managing your account responsibly way easier. And remember, if you don’t activate your Walmart Credit Card it will be closed after 3-5 months. Then you’d have to reapply if you want another chance.

I did mine over the phone. It's no big deal, and the steps are super easy. The number's1-877-362-5952. A good idea (obviously) would be to have your details handy, like your card and SSN.
Once it's done, you'll be good to go!
