Marbled Cherry Pie Cake Recipe

It doesn't need ice cream but you can add a scoop to the side for a truly decadent treat.
I am pretty sure this cake is going to be my go-to treat for every summer event we attend. It is so good!
If you love cherries and you love cake then you are going to absolutely love this marbled cherry pie cake recipe!
Ingredients
- white cake mix
- oil
- eggs
- water
- cherry pie filling
Equipment Needed
Large Mixing Bowl - We are big fans of this glass batter bowl that has a handle. It makes it really easy to mix ingredients and keep the mixing bowl steady on the counter.
Heat resistant potholders- A couple of years ago we had a fire scare when we didn't realize we had turned a burner on and a cloth potholder caught fire. Thankfully we walked by the kitchen and saw the smoke and were able to get it out ourselves. Since then we have only used these heat-resistant potholders.
We hope you enjoy this Marbled Cherry Pie Cake Recipe! You can use either a white cake mix or yellow cake mix. The white cake mix does make the cherry pop a bit more.
You could also make this with a chocolate cake mix. You might not be able to see the swirls as much but I bet it would taste amazing. We are also talking about making it with a lemon cake mix.
So pretty much it is up to you which flavor you want to pair with the cherry pie filling.

Almost all of my pie filling went to the bottom so not nearly as pretty as yours., but tasted great. Do l need to place the filling gently on top?

I wondering if I could swirl condensed milk with the cherry pie filling and bake or maybe swirl condensed milk on top after its baked. Has anyone tried this?

My Dad’s favorite dessert is cherry pie. Found your recipe and figured I would change it up this year for his birthday. So simple but so full of flavor, it was a HIT. I sprinkled the top with powder sugar before serving with vanilla ice cream. Thank you.

I made this for memorial day. I had a box of white cake mix and cherry pie filling. I changed a couple of things on the recipe. I used coconut oil, and I added some vanilla extract and also some rum flavor. I omitted the egg yolks, and whipped only the egg whites. I added 3 tablespoons of softened butter to the mixture and I used milk instead of water. I added the cherries and put it in the oven. The cake was fantastic, so soft and light everyone loved it.Reply

Was looking for a cherry pie filling cake, I’ll be using a sugar free cake mix - want to eliminate the oil, would it taste the same ?

Tammilee
I have not made this recipe with sugar-free cake mix. I would think it would work

I tried the cherry one, instead of using the canned pie filling i made my own using fresh cherries we had picked this summer. It turned out great. Using the same recipe I swapped out the cherries for fresh blueberries and it too turned out awesome.Reply

This is my husbands favorite cake! I used to make it for him like once a week and just now decided to make it after 3 years of not making it! Love it! Thanks!

My husband loves lemon and blueberry...so I swamped lemon cake mix for the white and a can of blueberry pie filling for the cherry. Perfect!

My husband and I love this cake. So easy to make and soooo good. My question is, there is a church picnic coming up and I was wondering how this cake would hold up to humidity . It would probably sit out (under a shelter) for a few hours. Any thoughts?Reply
Joanne
Hi, can this be made using chocolate cake mix. Are the ingredients the same as on the back of the cake mix box, or did you adjust them.

Tammilee
Hi Joanne, I think this would taste fantastic with a chocolate cake mix. I have not tried it but it sounds delicious!

This cake was my favorite when I was a kid. My mother would make this for me on my birthday. My mother just passed away recently and I remember this cake and how much I loved it. I search the internet and found other recipes that called for pineapple and cherries being added to the dry cake mix but not what I was looking for. I knew it was very simple to make and then I found this recipe. I am so excited. I am going to make it today. My kids will love it just like I did.
