I was delighted to host a tour of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine for members of the United Way of Greater Nashville's Tocqueville Society today. Alberto R. Gonzales offered the welcome before the United Way's incoming CEO Erica Mitchell interviewed HCA CEO Sam Hazen about the importance of community philanthropy as both an individual and corporate responsibility. Love to see this beautiful new community-facing space on the first floor of our new building being put to such good use!

For a glimpse at how that commitment intersects with our vision to shape medicine through transformative whole-person care, check out my new colleague Douglas Slakey, MD,MPH's esay below.

Well said, Michael Burcham. I love it when key elements of a charge--especially one as vital as leadership--can be distilled effectively to a single page!
