I'm not a big fan of Westerns, but this modern day man transported to New Mexico in the 1850's was surprisingly good. The pace of the book was actually slow at times with many repetitive actions, yet still kept the story both interesting and unique. The town building was fun, the mix of Spanish and Indian cultures from the mid 19th century was enlightening and different from what I normally read. I liked the intensive preparation for the coming Wars and the addition of the MC's modern amenities to his new life. Will be reading the entire series for sure.

This is an awesome book to read. The plot twists and turns to keep the reader from putting it down. I’m looking forward to the next book from P C Allen!!

Hard to put down I really liked this book. It had a constant pace that never got boring and kept me interested. Kudos to the author for not stretching my imagination too thin when blending modern technology with the past.

Book one Mistakes: For as long as this book is I was surprised to only find five mistakes.
Plot: For me it was highly enjoyable. I like town building and the time travel/portal aspect added to my enjoyment. Well thought out and well written.
Characters: I liked all of them. If I had to pick a complaint, it'd be the MC's ability to remember the words to do many songs.
I rate this as a 9/10. Fix the mistakes and this would be a perfect book.

I honestly did not think I would like this book as much as I did. I was a bit leery at first because the book is set in the wild west and I am not a huge fan of cowboy stories but I was pleasantly surprised about how much the author was able to bring to the story. I can imagine myself going back in time and making my little part of the world into something perfect and I could certainly see myself bringing pizza into the timeline lol. I highly recommend this book.

Very entertaining read! Glad I took this chance on something that I would not have normally given a thought to. I enjoyed the characters, deliberate depth of plot, well written and entertaining. Thought provoking social issues in a time where so much pain the news. Thank you for sharing your imagination with me and brightening my day. On to Book 2.

More western than SiFi, but still great read I usually try to keep with Kindle Unlimited books. However just finished Forget the Alamo series so tried the sample science it was a long book and the 10% would give me a good sample. Just took 2% to buy. give a try

Great will read the next one The typos were few though there were phrases repeated over and over like "huge megawatt Annie smile". We get it he likes her smile. If he likes it so much maybe he could come up with a few different adjectives for it. He also took a little license with the Gulf War to give an air force veteran of that era extensive ground combat experience but that and the few other little nitpicky things like time traveling with a whole truckload of modern weapons and tools and a map of all former gold strikes which was a little over the top are all I can really say against it. For the most part I really enjoyed the story and the pacing as well as the characters. Even with a few glitches in story mechanics here and there I will happily read the next one to find out what happens.

Read the current 3 books of the series in 4 days. That is 1740 pages. I slowed down for the second reading which took 2 weeks. There were other things to do. I went to the author's website. It responds to many of the negative comments some have had. Personally, I find the repeating of how Anne's smile affects Paul a nice way of showing their strong love. The complaint about all the songs that he knows misses the fact that he has (as mentioned) used his computer to refresh songs for him. Go to his website, pcallenbooks.yolasite.com , to find playlist of the songs for each book. There is also a lot of background information on the stories. I enjoy listening to the playlists. It adds to the continuing story. I am interested in knowing when the 4th book will be out.

Couldn't stop reading This was one of those books that once you started reading it you just couldn't put it down. It had a fascinating blend of fact, fiction, history, time travel, weapons, Native American history and just general ideas that made me open up the Safari app on my iPad mini countless times to find out more about some of the ideas, places and areas mentioned in this story.

Well written passages with no real plot The writer does an excellent job, using the Connecticut yankee in King Arthur’s court theme, But the real problem is a lot of story… There is a lot of world building, daily slice of life stuff, but no real plot narrative throughout the whole book… And it’s not short, so despite a solid set up I’m afraid to buy the next book for fear that it would be more of the same

A strange style! Mr. Allen has the most unusual way of telling his tale. It is more like a day-to-day diary than a novel. After reading this book I still haven't decided whether I like it or not. However,I do like story so I will probably read the next installment. I wish the main character wasn't so accomplished. I don't think anyone could be so adept at everything as Paul is.

A logical MC that made a lot of smart decisions with his second chance. I found myself skimming through passages (A lot of repetitive actions) and had to put it down and read other things a couple of times. I honestly would rate it 3.5.

Hey a time travel western with intersting characters. A bit repetitive at times when new characters join in. Otherwise would have been a 5.

A fun whimsy Fun and easy to read. My only problem is that the author tries to say that the Apache spirits are the same as Christian angel. That premise will never fly..

Fascinating Storyline I usually don't like writing reviews, after all who am I to criticize someone's time and obvious effort? But I have reread this book and the series (waiting for #5) so many times I certainly owe my thanks to the author for all of my hours of enjoyment and to highly recommend it to others.

3.5 stars. Notwithstanding a few unique mystical elements, this is a fairly standard "MC inexplicably finds himself back in time and has to forge a new identity/life with certain advance technology/skills" type of book. There are a few hints about future developments that might be interesting so I'll likely read the next in the series.

Wonderful story! Had to give this 5 stars despite the annoying "Anna smiles" comment interspersed throughout the book. Heartwarming, action filled and giving so much information of that exciting time period. Truly one of the BEST written books out there.

Alternative world Do you call this a time travel, fantasy, alternative worlds, or alternative western? How about a little bit of all of the above. Whatever you all it , it is a cracking good read

March 13, 2019Could not put the book down. Ever thought about what you could do if you went back in time with the knowledge you have today? Once I started reading I could not stop. The characters are enjoyable. Build up your empire can't wait for the 3rd book, P. C. Allen I'm thinking at least 12 books in this series keep them coming.
