History
The country was formed to keep Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler happy after he attempted a SS coup in the 1950s, prompted by the domestic instability following the German economic crash. The hope was to keep Himmler from German politics and allow him to entertain his fantasies alone which he accepted. The new country was to be made up of the former area of Reichskommissariat Belgien-Nordfrankreich and most of the former French republics Territories which used to border with the reich and belgium while its capital entrenched is Nanzig.
Politics
Burgundy is often referred to as "der Schattenstaat", or the "Shadow State," its government keeping a watchful, controlling eye on everything - information, media sources, the people, and even its own SS. Not a soul could know of Burgundian affairs from the outside.
Within, the society of Burgundy is an unsustainable dystopia, one where even - and in many cases, especially - the Aryan citizen is forced into hard labor. Enforcing a strict policy of state-sanctioned Spartanism, the Ordensstaat seeks to perfect the "Master Race" through trial by horrendous, gruesome fire. Any person not holding up to the standard that the totalitarian regime sets is immediately sent to the death camps, a life sentence of work by the whip with no end in sight besides the unspeakable terrors used by the SS once a worker has outlived usefulness.
Internationally, Burgundy is also in possession of a series of Globalpläne, designated Kondor, Wolf, Löwe, Bär, Drache, Sonne, Adler, and Puma. All Globalpläne exist for the central purpose of destabilizing the global political climate in order to bring about a world-ending, thermonuclear war. The Burgundian leadership believes that this is the only way to wipe out all traces of non-Germanic culture and, with the help of its bunker system, leave Aryans as the sole inhabitants of planet Earth.
In-game
Burgundy is a rather secretive, isolationist state, and as such, with the exceptions of the French State and certain victors of the German Civil War, will not have interactions with any other country. Gameplay wise, Burgundy instead relies heavily on manipulating other countries from the shadows. This is reflected in their focus trees - while you cannot view the text of a focus while controlling another country, for Burgundy, should one attempt to look at their focus trees while not playing as Burgundy, all focuses will be labeled as "STRENG GEHEIM" (German for "Top Secret"), to further represent the isolationist nature of Burgundy. When the German Civil War begins, Burgundy will invade France, and due to the vast differences in army sizes between the two, will be guaranteed to win and take territory from the French State (but will not take all of France).(Which equals to the territory which Burgundy used to start with prior to the UB update)
Additionally, there is a series of investigations that Burgundy must carry out to maintain stability, dealing with both internal enemies and resistance groups.
Due to how much the game relies on Burgundy's presence, an AI Burgundy cannot collapse before 1981 unless the Germans(Speer or Bormann) or the OFN invade.

Within the Ordensstaat, if we do not have total control then we have nothing. All information leaving our territory is closely monitored and highly restricted, with all media sources within controlled by the state. Foreign visitors are non existent, with access only rarely granted to high ranking officials from the wider Reich. They will know us only from what we want them to know. We are the Schattenstaat, or Shadow State, in the heart of Europe. |

There are two great enemies to society, decadence and degeneracy. They are a disease, infecting all they touch, and left unchecked will bring calamity the likes of which we have seen across the Reich. The Fatherland may be lost, but we will burn this disease out. The degenerate French and Belgian languages are to be entirely destroyed, their cultures relegated to history, and all elements of decadency purged from both our own ranks and the population at large. |
| The Three Realms |
Whilst the Ordensstaat is unified in its loyalty, we are not a unified race. Collaborationist French and Belgians play an important role in our administrative and domestic espionage efforts, with our military supported by several volunteer Waffen-SS divisions such as Charlemagne, Langemarck and Walloon. Given the choice of service, slavery or total annihilation, all have made their choice. They may hate us for it, but we do not ask for their love, only their fear. |
