I finished the demon playthrough last week and true-romanced Wenduag, really really complex stuff, impossible without google, one wrong dialogue choice and off the path lol. Really curious to see the results of this. I think Aru will win.

They did similar survey last time on discord, and Arueshalae was a clear winner. I voted for Daeran

That sounds a bit silly to be honest.
I guess I am one of the few people who hates romances in games in general. The only time I like them is when they are truely meaningful and they have to make sense. My favourite writer of romances would be Chris Avellone. He is one of the few game writers who really gets it. Ravel Puzzlewell in Torment loves the Nameless One and the love stretches across the countless lives of the Nameless One. You find references to it in the lore and cryptic references to it in dialogues. She has seen him die multiple times and everytime she tries to help him it never works out well for her.
DA:O did an okay job with the Morrigan romance but the other romance options didn't have the same meaning and things quickly went downhill in DA:2. Mass Effect was a bad offender, the payoff was basically a sex scene. Unfortunately the unwashed masses seem to like that.

I generally like romances in RPGs. Trying to find a romantic partner is deeply rooted in human nature, so it should always be possible (but not mandatory) in games where you play a human(-like) role. And Yes, I also think that humans would try to find a partner in a zombie apokalypse or some other dystopian setting. Perhaps especially then.
(I don't need sex scenes though and I consider them a cheap way in video games to show that a final romance relationship status has been achieved.)
WotR was the first game where I tried to persue a romance but failed. I still don't know if it was due to a bug or if I somewhen picked a wrong dialogue option. If it was the latter, it's really bad design. The game should communicate it better or give ways to go back on track.

If you do not care for spoilers, just look at this https://www.neoseeker.com/pathfinder-wrath-of-the-righteous/guides/Romancing_Wenduag lol, so many flags and paths, impossible without this guide, but overall the romance was very well written.

I like a game that makes me care about companions, which is probably the best way for it to be memorable. It adds stronger threads to a story construct than any depth of lore could hope to achieve for a solitary main character. For me at least.
So I appreciate romance in an RPG or any story-based game with enough depth, when it's well done. I like when the relationship is deserved and leads to more content, but more importantly, makes me care even more for that particular companion by letting me in more than the others do. Who doesn't like feeling special and gaining more access?
It doesn't really need to be a romantic relationship though, earning a more friendly or faithful companion is a big plus too.
What I don't care for is one-night affairs or artificial romances that are presented as achievements but lead to nothing else. Unfortunately, it's often the case.

I prefer romance over combat, in theory. Developers generally spend much more time getting the combat right, than crafting the relationships. I would much rather have a good sex scene than a boss fight. I do appreciate the achievement of scoring, but if my romances continue to be meaningful beyond sex that is better.

I think I like romances so much because they are in fact part of everyday's life. And I don't like pure combat simulators anymore.

I would like for them to do away with all romances in RPGs. I find them more annoying than anything. Although, some good quests came out of it.

I'm a huge fan of both romances and companions with in-depth relationships (friends, enemies, bros, romance, etc.,). Having them in a game can entice me to try/get a game I might otherwise skip. One of my favorite aspect of many games I play. For example one reason I prefer the Pathfinder games over Solasta are the better companions. Also something I really enjoy about BG3. Even the way they did them in C2077 was great. I tend to skip games these days if they don't have good followers/companions.

Well, she's the most vanilla out of all possible romanceable female characters. The other choices are a sociopath, a workaholic, and an edgy masoch*st.

When a demon is the most vanilla choice, you for sure don't have an easy time romancing.

In real life I dated an alcoholic, a stalker, and someone who worked for an escort service .... WOTR romances seem not that bad in comparison.
