What Is Peach Schnapps?
Peach schnapps is a liqueur – a liquor that has added seasoning and flavors. A liquor, which just sounds like a less-fancy way of saying liqueur, is a distilled drink such as gin or vodka.
There are several different forms of schnapps, which is what makes it so versatile for co*cktails and mixed drinks.
Peach schnapps is made of distilled peaches and rectified grain spirit, as well as a significant amount of sugar and glycerin to give it that distinctive syrup texture. It is the perfect flavor for making a drink feel like summer – refreshing and fruity, and sometimes with a retro twist.
Though peach schnapps is sweet and very easy to drink, it is surprisingly strong with an alcohol content of between 15-20%. Mixing with other liquors can be a tasty way to feel the effects quickly without knowing it.
Sometimes, simply drinking peach schnapps with lemonade can be a bit sickly and can get boring quickly. Don’t fret, because this versatile liqueur is ideal for making co*cktails at home!
Peach Schnapps Mixed Drink Recipes
Bear in mind that some of these drinks require a co*cktail shaker or a food processor!
Woo Woo
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Peach Schnapps
- 1.5 oz Vodka
- 3.5 oz Cranberry Juice
- Fresh Lime Juice
- Ice
- Lime Slice
If you have a co*cktail shaker, fill it with ice and all of the liquids and shake until it’s all mixed together. Without a co*cktail shaker, pour all of the liquids into a tall glass with the ice and stir it all up.
Garnish the drink with a wedge of lime (and a tiny umbrella if you’re feeling really fancy).
Sex on the Beach
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Peach Schnapps
- 2 oz Cranberry Juice
- 2 oz Orange Juice or Pineapple Juice
- Ice
One of the most popular co*cktails, Sex on the Beach is perfect for summer.
It’s super easy to make, too – simply pour the vodka and peach schnapps over the ice in a tall glass and top it with the orange juice and cranberry juice.
If you have a co*cktail shaker, the same rules apply. Garnish with a cherry or lemon slice – or a tiny umbrella – and you’re basically at the beach!
Miami Iced tea
Ingredients:
- 0.5 oz Vodka
- 0.5 oz Light Rum
- 0.5 oz Gin
- 0.5 oz Peach Schnapps
- 0.5 oz Triple Sec
- 1 oz Sour Mix
- 1 oz Cranberry Juice
- Splash of Lemon-Lime Soda
This mixed drink is the sister to a Long Island Iced Tea, except fruitier as the tequila is replaced with peach schnapps. This is ideal for those who want to enjoy the flavors of all the liquors and liqueurs.
Simply mix all of the ingredients in a tall glass filled with ice and finish it off with a splash of lemon-lime soda for a refreshing alcoholic beverage.
Gummy Bear Martini
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Raspberry Vodka
- 1 oz Peach Schnapps
- 1 oz Cranberry Juice
- Gummy Bears
This is the type of drink that will release your inner child – just as a legal adult!
This recipe is super easy to make and tastes almost too good to be true, so remember to not overdo it regardless of how little alcohol you will taste.
In a co*cktail shaker, pour all of the liquids into the shaker filled with ice and shake away. Strain it into a chilled co*cktail glass, and garnish with gummy bears.
Some like the gummy bears on a skewer, others like them floating around the drink.
Christmas Blossoms
Ingredients:
- 1.75 oz Vodka
- 2 cups Fresh or Frozen Peach Slices
- 1.5 oz Peach Schnapps
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- Ice
You will need a food processor for this one! Blend all of the ingredients (liquids and peach slices, everything) in a food processor until it is smooth.
Then add the ice cubes and blend until it is smooth again. The name for this mixed drink is a bit odd, considering it doesn’t actually taste very festive, but it’s a lovely blended mix of sweetness that is refreshing and tasty.
Kiss on the lips
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Peach Schnapps
- 6 oz Frozen Mango Mix
- 1 tbsp Grenadine Syrup
- Crushed ice
Another mixed drink that requires a food processor, simply blend the peach schnapps, frozen mango mix and crushed ice until smooth.
Pour the grenadine in a co*cktail glass, and top with the blended mixture. It should create the sunset fade appearance of red to orange, but you are welcome to mix the grenadine in with the blended liquid!
Mitch Martini
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Pressed Apple Juice
- 0.5 oz Peach Liqueur
- 0.5 oz Passion fruit Syrup
